Rainforest Comes to Life at Ridgewood High School!

On Thursday 10th April, our Year 8 students (plus some very lucky reward students from other years!) had an unforgettable experience with Laura Harris – The Animal Woman from the Animal Man company!

In an exciting interactive session, students explored the tropical rainforest biome, learning about the “gardeners” of the ecosystem and the serious threats facing the Amazon – the lungs of our planet.

But it wasn’t just talk – they got up close and personal with:

Bill the gecko – who can drop his tail if startled!

A brave cockroach

Phil the guinea pig – on a diet and not a fan of apples

Kellogg the corn snake – sssensational!

Thelma the bearded dragon – cool and calm

Karen the owl – peak sass

Esther the kinkajou – the undisputed favourite!

Our students were fascinated learning about the vital roles these animals play in the rainforest’s ecosystem, and how their survival is linked to ours.

They were a credit to our school, showing fantastic behaviour throughout – and judging by the smiles, they absolutely loved it!
